Serial Advanced Technology Attachment commonly known as SATA is an IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) standard for storage devices like optic cables, HDDs, and SSDs connected to motherboards in computers. Though the technology is much advanced with storage standards like SAS and NVMe SATA is a definite choice in many applications.

From mobile devices, laptops, to hyperscale data centers, the usage of storage devices in these equipment are well embedded in our daily lives. Though Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) were commonly used as a storage solution in early days, with the introduction of ultrabooks and other compact computing devices, Solid State Drives (SSDs) will soon overshadow its predecessor and expect to dominate market share.

SATA has always played a central role in storage solutions. It is used as the main storage interconnect between host systems like PC's or mobiles  and external devices like hard drives, solid state drives, hybrid drives and optical drives. Later it started to play a major role in higher applications enabling cost-effective storage solutions.
